Palm Springs is a municipality in Palm Beach County in the U.S. state of Florida with 18,928 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

The village is located approximately 10 km south of the center of West Palm Beach. The municipality is crossed by the Florida State Roads 802, 807, 809 and 882. In addition, passes close to the east by Interstate 95 to Palm Springs.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 18,928 inhabitants distributed to 8,823 households. The population density was 4506.7 inh. / Km ². 72.7 % of the population were white, 12.1% African American, 0.5% Native American and 1.7 % Asian Americans. 9.1% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.9% in different ethnic groups. 50.6 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 25.8 % of all households lived in 35.5 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 64.4 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.58 persons and the average family size is 3.13 people.

26.5% of the population were younger than 20 years, 29.1% were 20-39 years old, 27.0% were 40-59 years old and 17.4 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 36 years. 48.2 % of the population were male and 51.8 % female.

The average annual income was $ 38,637, while 20.9 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 69.85 % of the population spoke Spanish 24.07 % and 6.08% had a different mother tongue.

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 500 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) in the high range. There were two murders, six rapes, 40 robberies, 74 injuries, 231 burglaries, 582 thefts, 61 car thefts and one arson.
