Pancalia

Pancalia is a genus of butterflies of the family splendor butterfly ( Cosmopterigidae ).

Features

The Pancalia species have a smooth and rounded scaly head. The antennae are flattened and reach 3/4 for 4/ 5 of the forewing length. They are solid color with the males. In females, they are often thickened in the middle, coarse black scales and have a white apical section. The labial palps are laterally flattened and stretched, the third segment is angled upwards and extends beyond the head. The forewings are lanceolate and have an orange-brown ground color with a silver or pale gold shiny drawing. The inner drawing elements normally form a sloping outwards binding. The hind wings are much narrower than the forewings.

The genital armature of the males is slightly asymmetrical. The Brachia are long and strong and have approximately the same length and shape. The Tegumen is sclerotized wide and clear. The Valven are quite broad and often in the first third slimmer. The left Valve is usually somewhat larger than the right. The Valvellae are asymmetrical, the left Valvella is always greater than the right. The aedeagus is curved and tapers to.

In females, the Apophyses are posterior half times as long as the anterior Apophyses. The sterigma is more or less flat and has various shapes. The ductus bursae is long and slim and widens towards the corpus bursae. The corpus bursae is oval or egg-shaped and has paired signals in the form of two granular dimples.

Dissemination

The representatives of the genus are native to the Palaearctic region. The majority of the species is found in East Asia, a type is known from the Oriental known.

Biology

The caterpillars develop on violet plants and live in silken feeding programs. They feed on the leaves, the first stages are leaf miners and live in the stems and in the rootstock.
