Paslepa (Swedish Pasklep, estonia Swedish Pask ( l) op, German Paschlep ) is a village ( küla ) in the Estonian rural community Noarootsi (Swedish Nuckö ) in Lääne.

Description and History

The village has 77 inhabitants ( 2006). It is located on the peninsula Noarootsi on the Baltic Sea.

In 1873, the Swedish missionary Thore Emanuel Thorén Paslepa in a teacher training college, who trained primary school teachers for the Swedish-speaking schools in Estonia and Livonia. The seminar was active until 1887 in Paslepa.

Summer residence of the Estonian president

In 1938, the then President Konstantin Pats architect Alar Kotli and the Estonian Olev Siinmaa the contract to build the official summer residence of the Estonian head of state in Paslepa. After the restoration of Estonian independence in 1991 Paaslepa was again a summer residence of the Estonian president, extensively renovated and expanded with boat dock and guest house. However, the presidential office has proposed to Parliament in November 2007 to abandon the residence for reasons of cost.
