Pat Kavanagh (ice hockey)
Patrick Kavanagh ( born March 14, 1979 in Ottawa, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who was under contract with HC Val Pusteria in the Italian Serie A1 since summer 2012.
Career
Pat Kavanagh began his hockey career in 1995 at the Kanata Valley Lasers from the Canadian Junior Hockey League. In 1996 he moved to the Peterborough Petes in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League. After his first season, the Philadelphia Flyers pulled the Canadians in the NHL Entry Draft in 1997 in the second round to 50th place overall. However, Kavanagh stayed two more years in the OHL and improved his scoring values each year. In summer 1999, Kavanagh was transferred to a sixth- round draft pick in the organization of the Vancouver Canucks. He first played one season at Syracuse Crunch farm team in the American Hockey League. After he initially completely also spent the next year in the minor league, this time at the Kansas City Blades of the International Hockey League, he came in the first round of the Stanley Cup Play-offs 2001 against the Colorado Avalanche to his debut in the National Hockey League. The season 2001/ 02 Kavanagh completed entirely in the AHL. Also in the next two years, he managed not to enforce it in the NHL and only came to three NHL games. But for the Manitoba Moose in the AHL, he played a supporting role.
In the 2004/05 season playing for the Binghamton Senators of the attackers, a farm team of the NHL Ottawa Senators clubs from Kavanagh's hometown. After only one year, the striker signed with the Philadelphia Flyers, where he mostly in the AHL Philadelphia Phantoms team was deployed, but could also accrue eight times in the NHL. The 2006/07 season started the right-handed shooter with the Portland Pirates in the AHL, but weaknesses in the body game prevented a career in the NHL, so he decided in 2006 to move to Europe.
First, the striker was there for the Finnish club Pallo Saimaan from the SM- liiga on the ice, before he moved in the same season of the Swedish Elitserien club HV 71 Jönköping. In May 2007, the club DEL Iserlohn Roosters announced the commitment of the Canadian known, who signed a one-year contract in the Sauerland. There he played an outstanding year on the side of Jimmy Roy and Ryan Ready, but signed early in the play-off opponents Frankfurt Lions a two -year contract. However, in Frankfurt, he was not convincing, so he moved after just one season for ERC Ingolstadt. In June 2011, Kavanagh was engaged by the Vienna Capitals of the Austrian Hockey League and comes with a one-year contract for the 2011/12 season. The end of September of the same year his contract was dissolved after the signing of Nathan Robinson. This was followed in summer 2012 the move to Italy, where he agreed with the runner- HC Val Pusteria.
