Patacamaya Municipality

The municipality Patacamaya is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality Patacamaya is one of seven Municipalities of the province of flavor and is located in the central part of the province. It is bordered to the west by the province Pacajes, on the southwest by the municipality of Umala, on the southeast by the municipality of Sica Sica, on the east by the province Loayza, and to the north by the municipality of Ayo Ayo.

The municipality has 75 localities ( Localidades ), the central location of the municipality is Patacamaya with 8,414 inhabitants in the central part of the municipality. The only other large town in the municipality of Villa is still Patarani with 1,024 inhabitants. (2001)

Geography

The municipality Patacamaya located on the Bolivian Altiplano at an average altitude of 3800 m, between the Andes mountain ranges, the Cordillera Occidental and the Cordillera Central in the west to the east. The mean average temperature of the municipality is good 7 ° C (see climate chart ), the annual precipitation is about 450 mm. The region has a pronounced diurnal climate, the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 4 ° C in June / July and 9 ° C in November / December. The monthly rainfall range from less than 10 mm in the Between May and August and 100 mm in January.
