Life
Paul Hanley got in at The Fall, when he was still in school. First, he was the roadie of the band, who played in his older brother Steve Hanley bass. In 1980 he took over the drums since he was just 16 years old. On some tours, he was unable to attend because of his age, so he missed a tour, because he just received his college degree. For a U.S. tour he did not get the necessary papers to the authorities, as it should have played that were released only after 21 years in clubs.
In The Fall Paul Hanley played until March 1985. Thereafter, with school friends, he founded his own band Kiss The Blade. Since there was already a band with that name, it was renamed Shout Bamalam. In 1988 they released an EP, the only publication. The band broke up and he made a few years no more music, just as his brother Steve, the band founded ARK. There he was first keyboard player, but switched to drums when the drummer Karl Burns left the band. Published in 2002, ARK their only and quite undervalued CD Brain Sold, played on the Paul Hanley next to the drums and piano.
2001 Steve Hanley rose at a The Lovers, the band of Tom Hingley, the singer of Inspiral Carpets and took his brother by Paul, who has since played in The Lovers drums, next to Kelly Wood on keyboards and Jason Brown on guitar. As a first release came in 2003, the single Yeah on the market, in 2004 the debut album ABBA Are The Enemy and in March 2008, came the follow-up album highlights on the market.
Paul Hanley is not to be confused with Paul Hanley of the English band Sacred who is his nephew.
