Paul Wevers

Paul Wevers ( born June 21, 1907 in Cologne, † March 6, 1941 in Braunschweig ) was a German canoeist who in 1936 won an Olympic gold medal.

Paul Wevers by the Association for kayaking Cologne won together with Franz Schneider 1931 to 1933 three times in a row, the German title in double kayak over 1000 meters. 1933 won Wevers and Schneider at the European Championships in the 10,000 meters in a double folding kayak before the two Austrians Viktor Kalisch and Karl Steinhuber.

1936 won Wevers along with Ludwig Landen at the German Championship titles in the double kayak in the 10,000 meters. Over this distance, the two also won at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, where they came to Kalisch and stone Gruber twenty -second lead to the finish.

Paul Wevers died in a plane crash during World War II.
