Pauline Smith

Pauline Janet Smith ( born April 2, 1882 in Oudtshoorn, South Africa, † January 29, 1959 in Dorset, England) was a South African writer.

She grew up in the Little Karoo as the daughter of a doctor and was sent at the age of twelve in a boarding school in England. Then she returned never permanently returned to South Africa. As a basis for their work, the experiences of her childhood in the Afrikaans -speaking rural society as well as their visits in which she kept a diary served. A collection of short stories, The Little Karoo, appeared in 1925; A year later she published her novel The Beadle. Your earliest stories for children were published in 1935 in Platkops Children.
