Pável Pardo

Pavel Pardo Segura ( born July 26, 1976 in Guadalajara, Jalisco ) is a retired Mexican footballer who played among others in the Mexican national team.

Career

Pardo began his career in 1993 with Atlas de Guadalajara of the Mexican League ( Primera División de México ), after which he played for Tecos UAG, before moving to Club América. There were rumors that he would move to River Plate from Argentina, but this did not happen.

By 2009, Pardo played 146 times for Mexico and scored nine goals. He also took part in the Football World Cup in 1998 and 2006, at the Copa América 1997, 1999 and 2004 and the Confederations Cup 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2005.

In Mexico it is known for its low bad pass ratio and its strong free-kicks. He is thus considered one of the best Mexican soccer players who are currently active.

In the period from 1 July 2006 to 31 December 2008 Pavel Pardo was in the Bundesliga with VfB Stuttgart active. He played the position of a classic " number 6" defensive midfielder in front of the defense and was due to his strength in the tackle as one of the most important players at VfB. He crowned his time at VfB by winning the German soccer championship in season 2006/07. In the cup final 2007 he was transformed into the 80 minutes a penalty for interim compensation 2:2 against 1.FC Nuremberg and thus forced the extension of VfB but lost with 2:3. His first goal in the Champions League he scored on 27 November 2007 between temporal 2:1 against Glasgow Rangers.

After Sami Khedira has prevailed in the internal team competition for the position in the midfield against Pardo and was even elected in December 2008 Player of the Month, Pardo returned in January 2009 to his old club Club America back to Mexico. For the 2010 World Cup in South Africa Pardo was not nominated.

On July 26, 2011 Pardo joined the Chicago Fire SC. After one and a half years Pardo the end of his active career announced on 19 January 2013. However, he would continue to work in the football business.

Pardo is married and has two children.
