Payer Bach is a market town with 2146 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Neunkirchen in Lower Austria.

Geography

Payer Bach is located in the industrial area in Lower Austria. The area of ​​the municipality covers 17.66 square kilometers. 55.54 percent of the area is forested.

Katastralgemeinden

Katastralgemeinden are Kreuzberg, Küb, Payerbach, Pettenbach and Schmid village.

KG Payerbach

The cadastral Payerbach forms the northern part of the municipality and is bordered to the west by Reichenau an der Rax. It is both in terms of area and number of inhabitants of the largest part of the market town. Districts of the KG Payerbach are: Werning ( east ) and Geyerhof ( north ).

KG Küb

Küb ( the name probably comes from the old Slavic word Chyba / Chub ) is bordered on the west by the Payer KG Bach, south to Kreuzberg, to the west and to the north by Pettenbach Schmid village; is thus Küb surrounded by the other four Katastralgemeinden in the heart of the community Payerbach. The cadastral extends around 500 meters either side of the Küberbach, which is a feeder Schwarza. With the historic post office, there is a tourist attraction in the heart of Küb which the Semmering Railway (stop Küb ) can be reached. KG Schmid village

Schmid village is situated in the southeastern part of the community and extends to the KG Payerbach adjacent on both sides along the Schwarza to the community Gloggnitz in the West. KG Pettenbach

Pettenbach lies to the east of the municipality Payer stream and closes on the south by the Höllgraben. On the eastern municipal boundary of the site adjoins the two Gloggnitzer Katastralgemeinden Heufeld and Eichberg. KG Kreuzberg

The KG Kreuzberg district extends from the Payer Payer Bach Bach along the trench direction south to the community Breitenstein. Geology

On the border of Limestone Alps and the Vienna Basin Payerbach is the greywacke zone, which in the Payerbacher area has its foothills. To the south is the Semmering- Mesozoic, which dips under the greywacke zone. The geological layers are superimposed in the north of Payerbach of the Northern Limestone Alps. Thermal water

History

In ancient times, the area was part of the province of Noricum. In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying the place informed the eventful history of Austria. In 1848 was created by the March Constitution, the large village of Reichenau, a merger of the two communities Payer Bach and Reichenau. Was ruled the greater community of two mayors, one each from Reichenau, the other from Payerbach.

In the following decades, increasingly nobles settled in the region, which also led to a tourist development. The numerous villas were built, and the summer found its way into the region.

On June 25, 1908, the greater community was separated again by law, and Payer Bach was once again an independent municipality with five local villages. On 1 January 1909 finally entered the new administration in power, the first mayor Prof. Anton Weiser was appointed.

Culture and sights

Parks

Between pool and Schwarza viaduct is the Payerbacher Park. A new section of the park has been created instead of a woodyard 1901-1903 under the direction of the castle gardener Gottlieb Zajic. In the park near the swimming pool is a model of a typical villa of the Semmering region was built for the 50th anniversary of the Semmering Railway in 1904. This was built and established by the Payerbacher master carpenter Karl Weinzettl.

Sports

Nestled in the mountain landscape between Semmering, Rax and Schneeberg mountains are located around Payerbach numerous hiking trails. Especially popular is a walk along the promenade sun on the southern slopes above the market town.

The municipality is also the cycling and footpath along the Semmering Railway. Another sporting event is the 43 km long cycle path along the Schwarza. Starting point of many hiking trails is the Payer Bahnhof.
