PDFedit

PDFedit is a free PDF editor for Unix-like operating systems. The program does not support encrypted PDF files and it is not meant for word processing. PDF is a complex format that is intended for publishing -ready PDF documents and not in favor of ex post modifications. PDFedit offers tech-savvy users structured access to these complex internal data structure. To perform substantial modifications, so a basic knowledge of PDF specifications are necessary. For simpler tasks, such as cutting out pages, it is recommended to use other programs.

The user interface of PDFedit builds on Qt 3 and its script engine QSA. Scripts can be written in ECMAScript. A command line interface for PDF editing is also part of the program. Xpdf is for near -source code ( "low-level " ) used processes.

PDFedit is only in the old version of Debian 6.0 ( " Squeeze" ) exists and is in the current (ie, stable) Debian 7 ( " Wheezy " ) is no longer included. In the unstable development version of Debian ( " sid " ) is PDFedit still available. Also from the newer Ubuntu versions from 12:10 ( " quantal " ) PDFedit was removed.
