Peace Prize of the German Book Trade

The Peace Prize of the German Book Trade is an international peace prize. The award is presented each year at the Frankfurt Book Fair in St. Paul's Church (Frankfurt am Main ) to a personality, " which has contributed primarily to an outstanding degree through their activities in the fields of literature, science and art to achieve the idea of ​​peace ."

The Peace Prize is awarded by the Association of German book trade and is endowed with prize money of 25,000 euros currently. The honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the largest book fair in the world is connected with international publicity.

The Peace Prize goes back to the initiative less writer and publisher in 1949 and was first awarded in 1950 as the " Peace Prize German publisher " in Hamburg. In 1951, he was at a price of the entire book trade by the Association of German Book Trade. In 1972 he was awarded posthumously for the first time. The winners will be determined by the Board of Trustees. Proposals can come from anyone and must be duly justified and documented.
