Pello
Pello [ pɛl ː ɔ ] ( until 1949 Turtola ) is a municipality in the Finnish part of Lapland. It lies on the middle reaches of the Tornionjoki, which forms the border with Sweden. The population is Finnish-speaking exclusively.
In addition to the eponymous capital of the municipality of Pello include several small villages that line up on the few roads. South of the village of Pello are on the road to Kemi settlements Lehmivaara and Mämmilä, the former capital of Turtola and the village Juoksenki, which is the southernmost town of the community exactly at the height of the Arctic Circle. To the east are the settlements Saukkoriipi, Konttajärvi, Ruuhijärvi and Rattosjärvi (on the road Meltauksentie ) and Lankojärvi, Sirkkakoski and Lampsijärvi. North of the center are the villages Orajärvi, Lempeä and Jarhois.

Policy
As generally in the rural areas of northern Finland, the Centre Party is also in Pello the strongest political force. In the local elections 2008, she received exactly half of the votes in the city council and has, the highest decision-making body in local affairs, with 15 of 27 seats on an absolute majority. The second strongest force is the Left Alliance, which is as generally disproportionately represented in Lapland.
