Penglai, Shandong

Penglai (Chinese蓬莱 市/蓬莱 市, pinyin Penglai shì ) is a county-level city, which belongs to the administrative area of the prefecture-level city of Yantai in Shandong Province, China.

Penglai is the northernmost part of the mainland part of the prefecture-level city of Yantai and is located in the center of Yantai. Apart from the Bohai Sea in the north west of the city lies Penglai Fushan District, east of the independent city of Longkou north and the independent city Qixia.

Penglai has an area of 1,129 km ² and around 480,000 inhabitants ( 2001), of which more than 80 % are engaged in agriculture.

As a county-level city, Penglai is composed of five road districts and seven large municipalities:

  • Greater community Chaoshui (潮水 镇).
