Pernilla Winberg

Pernilla Margareta Stephanie Winberg ( born February 24, 1989 in Limhamn ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who for the University of Minnesota Duluth plays since 2008 and is one of the best Swedish hockey players.

Career

Pernilla Winberg began her career at the Limhamn Limeburners HC, for which she played until 2006 in the J18 SuperElit -. As of 2004, she came parallel with the AIK Solna used and evolved there into one of the best hockey players of Sweden. With the AIK won four consecutive IIHF European Women Champions Cup and the Swedish Championship 2007.

Since the 2008/ 09 season she played for the women's team at the University of Minnesota Duluth, the Bulldogs, in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and scored in 38 games 41 points scorer. In 2009 she returned to Sweden for a year to prepare the national team for the 2010 Winter Olympics. In parallel, she played for the Segeltorps IF in the Swedish Riksserien, won the championship of the club in 2010.

Internationally

At the Olympic Winter Games 2006 in Turin, she won the Swedish women's national team the silver medal in the Olympic ice hockey tournament. Winberg was the youngest player in the Swedish Olympic team.

In the semi-final game against the U.S. women she scored in the shootout the winning goal to enter the final.

Overall, they played more 146 caps for Sweden, and three caps for the U22 junior women in the country (as of December 2009).
