Petersen Quartet

The Petersen Quartet ( Ulrike Petersen, violin, Conrad Muck, violin, Ula Ulijona, viola, and Henry David Varema, cello ), named after its founder Ulrike Petersen ( b. 1961 ), one of the leading string quartets.

History

The ensemble was founded in Berlin in 1979 and is headquartered there. Mentors were the Amadeus Quartet, Sándor Végh and Thomas Brandis. After a break for family reasons Ulrike Petersen since 2008 firmly in the ensemble.

Artistic work

The repertoire includes works from the classical and romantic compositions from the 20th century up to the new music. The ensemble is in great string quartet tradition that stretches from Ludwig van Beethoven to Bartók and Schoenberg. There is a regular guest in all the major concert halls of the world.

The quartet has numerous, multi-award -winning CD recordings released by composers such as Franz Schubert, Aribert Reimann, Boris Blacher, Erwin Schulhoff and Ernst Krenek, who were honored, among others, with the Prize of the German Record Critics' Award, the Echo Award and the German Record Prize.

A name, the quartet has also made with recordings from the late works of Beethoven. For the interpretation of the string quartets op op 131 18.1 & 1995 they were repeatedly received various international awards with the Grand Prix Académie Chartes Cros, the Editor's Choice Gramophone and the price Choc 1995 by Le Monde de la Musique.

The Quartet collaborates closely with artists and artists such as Christine Schäfer, Juliane Banse, Christiane Oelze, Shlomo Mintz and Renaud Capuçon.
