Petite-ÃŽle

Petite -Île ( in German: Small island ) is a municipality in Réunion with 11,573 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011).

Geography

The municipality is located in the south of Réunion, on the slopes of the Piton de la Fournaise volcano, bordering the municipalities of Saint -Joseph and Saint- Pierre. It was named after a small island offshore.

History

Education

In the village there is a Collège.

Business & Tourism

The community is dominated by agriculture. Main production goods are sugar cane, perfume plants, citrus fruits and vegetables. In the village are numerous tourist inns and on the beach of Grande -Anse a four star hotel complex.
