Petru Filip

Petru Filip ( born January 23, 1955 in Slobozia, Romania) is a Romanian politician and member of the Senate of Romania for the Partidul Democrat Liberal. In the wake of Romania's accession to the European Union, he was between December 2007 and December 2008 at the European Parliament, where he was a representative of the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats ) - European Democrats in the Committee on Regional Development and the Delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council was Assistant or as a member of the Committee on employment and Social Affairs.

Filip studied at the University of Timişoara in 1979 and received his degree in engineering at the Faculty of Mechanics. He received his doctorate in mechanical engineering in 2002. In 2006 he received a PhD in Administrative Management.

Filip was from 1991 to 1996 and 2000-2007 mayor of Oradea. In the same city he had previously worked on the mechanical work, first from 1981 to 1989 as an engineer and head of department, from 1989 to 1991 then as Technical Director. After the merger of his party with the Liberal Democrat Partidul he is a member of the emerging Partidul Democrat Liberal (PD -L), in which he clothed Präsidialgremium a vice president post.

Since 2008 it belongs to the top chamber of the Romanian Parliament, the Senate, where he has served as a member of the Standing Committee on Public Administration, Cadastre and Environmental Protection, whose chairman he was until September 2010. Since 9 September 2010, he exercised the office of one of the four Vice- President of the Romanian Senate.
