Peugeot 309

The Peugeot 309 was a car in the lower middle class, which was produced by the fall of 1985 until the end of 1993.

Development

Since August 1979, the PSA group from the three brands, Peugeot, Citroen and Talbot was. However, decided in mid- 1984, the Board of PSA to discontinue the Talbot brand, only the Talbot Horizon should be produced until mid-1986.

History

In October 1985, initially the five-door variant of the Peugeot 309 was presented. It was produced in England - in Ryton -on- Dunsmore, near Coventry. In addition, he has also been made in the former Talbot factory in Poissy. The body was developed from the 1982 Peugeot presented Vera plus.

In September 1986, a diesel engine with 1905 cm ³ was introduced and 49 kW (65 hp). As of early 1987, the 309 was available as a three-door (in most versions). The technical model name was 10A ( five-door ) or 10C ( three-door ). A new addition was the 1905 cc petrol engine in the 309 GTI 1.9. The offer was supplemented by two basic versions with the letter A facilities that were offered only as a three- door hatchback and with three engines: gasoline: 1118 cc and 1294 cc petrol engine and 1905 cc diesel.

At the start of production from the well-known predecessor, Horizon engines from the Talbot range were used. For the German market the GRI was offered ( in other markets SRi ) with the 1580 cc XU J1 engine and injection from the 205 GTi 1.6, and an additional emission control measures already introduced to the market in April 1986 to unleaded gasoline and the tax incentives for emission- purified vehicles to use. Facelift

Naming
