Phare du Portzic

Phare du Portzic is the name of a lighthouse built in 1848 west of the city of Brest in Finistère department in Brittany. It has a range of 20 nautical miles. It marks the passage of the Straits of Brest and Brest on the nearest lighthouse.

History

The lighthouse was built in 1848 at the same time with the beacon Petit Minou on a military base in the north of the Strait of Brest, on the promontory Pointe du Portzic.

In 1954 the company was converted to electricity, the automation was 1994. It is located directly opposite the Pointe des Espagnols.
