Philip A. Goodwin

Philip Arnold Goodwin ( born January 20, 1882 in Athens, New York, † June 6, 1937 in Coxsackie, New York ) was an American politician. Between 1933 and 1937 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Philip Arnold Goodwin attended public schools. 1896 the family moved to Coxsackie. He graduated in 1900 at the High School in Coxsackie and 1902 at the Albany Business College. Between 1902 and 1916 he went to the steel bridge construction business in Albany. He was from 1916 until his death owned and operated a lumber company in Coxsackie. He also went to banking transactions, operated a milling and delivery company and a securities company.

Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1932 for the 73rd Congress Goodwin was in the 27th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Harcourt J. Pratt on March 4, 1933. He was re-elected twice in a row, however, died shortly after the beginning of his final term on June 6, 1937 in Coxsackie. His body was then buried at the Riverside Cemetery.
