Philipp Dulichius

Philipp Dulichius (also Deulich, Deilich, Teilich, Dulich, Dulichs ) ( born December 18, 1562 in Chemnitz, † March 24, 1631 in Stettin) was a German composer.

Life

Philipp Dulichius was the son of clothier, councilors and multiple Mayor Caspar Deulich from Chemnitz. From his student days is only known with certainty that he was enrolled in 1579 in the University of Leipzig. In 1587 he accepted a position as cantor at the Princely Pädagogium in Szczecin on. From 1618 on the title of professor is busy. He was responsible for church music in the Szczecin St. Mary's Church, the musical education of high school students and the music at the court of the Pomeranian Dukes. After 43 years of service, he laid down his office end in 1630. The Szczecin St. Mary's Church, in which he was buried, burned down in 1789 and was not rebuilt.

Philipp Dulichius has 232 ornate and sounded beautiful motets composed, who had in his lifetime been found pervasive across Europe, but now waiting for a revival.

At the Heinrich -Schütz- days in September 2004 in Greifswald, he was the subject of the lecture " Philipp Dulichius - cantor at St. Mary's and the Princely Pädagogium Stettin 1587-1631 ".

In Dulichius ' hometown of Chemnitz, a memorial plaque at the Church of St. James was placed in November 2008.
