Phutthamonthon District
Amphoe Phutthamonthon ( Thai: อำเภอ พุทธ มณฑล, different spelling: "Buddha Monthon " ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the province of Nakhon Pathom. The Nakhon Pathom province is located in the middle of Central Thailand.
Geography
The neighboring Amphoe are clockwise from the North: Amphoe Bang Len in the province of Nakhon Pathom, Amphoe Sai Noi which, Bang Yai and Bang Kruai, Nonthaburi Province, the District ( Khet ) of Bangkok Watthana Thawi and Amphoe Sam Phran and Nakhon Chai Si Nakhon Pathom in turn.
History
Amphoe Phuttamonthon was on 1 April 1991 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by three Tambon Nakhon Chai Si from the Amphoe were cleaved. On 5 December 1996, he got the full Amphoe status.
Training
A campus of Mahidol University is located in this district.
Attractions
- Phutthamonthon Park - a Buddhist park with an approximately 16 m high, created by Silpa Bhirasri Buddha statue, which is considered the highest free-standing Buddha statue of the world.
Management
The district Phutthamonthon is divided into three subdistricts ( tambon), which further into 18 villages ( Muban ) are divided.
There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:
- Salaya ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ศาลา ยา ) consists of parts of the tambon Salaya,
- Khlong Yong ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล คลอง โยง ) consists of the whole Tambon Khlong Yong.
There are also two " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
