The source bladder snail ( Physa fontinalis ) is a freshwater snail from the family of the lungs, bladder snails ( Physidae ).

Features

The housing is seven to 12 mm high and four to seven millimeters wide. The left-handed housing has four whorls, the apex is rounded. The case is thin-walled, translucent and shiny. The body color is yellow-brown to blue black. The antennae are bright, the eyes on the sensor base. Your foot is long and thin, the coat takes on the case. Source bladder snails are hermaphrodites

Habitat and Distribution

The source bladder snail is an opportunist. It settles clear, plant-rich still and flowing waters as well as moderately polluted waters. It is widespread in Europe and was also in the south, as demonstrated in the Italian Caldonazzo. In Germany, however, it is found everywhere, in the south rarer.
