Physalis longifolia

Physalis longifolia is a plant of the genus Physalis (Physalis ) in the nightshade family (Solanaceae ).

Description

Physalis longifolia is a perennial, 20-60 cm tall plant that grows from a strong, located deep underground rhizome. The stems grow upright and are highly branched in the upper part of the plant. The plant is glabrous or sparsely hairy with short, simple, snug, up to 0.5 mm long trichomes. The leaf blades are ovate to ovate - lanceolate or broadly lanceolate. They are 2.5 to 10 ( rarely to 13) cm long and 1-6 (rarely to 7) inches wide. They are glabrous or sparsely hairy with short, striegel hairy trichomes. The leaf margin is entire or coarsely toothed with few teeth, the base is truncated or rounded, forward the leaf blade is sharp. Petioles have about one to two fifths of the length of the leaf blade.

The flowers appear singly in the axils of the leaves. The flower stem measures 5 to 20 millimeters. In its heyday, the cup is 7 to 12 (rarely 5-15 ) mm long and sparsely occupied with striegel haired, short, adjacent trichomes. The sepals are 3-6 mm long. The crown measures 10 to 20 millimeters, is colored yellow and has five purple - brown spots in Kronschlund. The anthers are tinged with yellow or blue and 2 to 4 millimeters long. The stamens are as wide or wider than the anthers.

The greatly enlarged for fruit ripening calyx is green, the cross section is zehnwinkelig, rounded or slightly indented into the base only. It measures 2-4 mm in length and 1.5 to 3 centimeters in width. The stem is extended to 15 to 35 millimeters.

The flowering period extends from May to October.
