Pia Sundstedt

Pia Ann- Katrine Sundstedt ( born 2 May 1975 in Kokkola ) is a former Finnish athlete in the disciplines of mountain biking, cross country skiing and road cycling. With the start of the 2014 season it is Tournament Director of a women's cycling team in Qatar.

Sports career

Pia Sundstedt began her career as a cyclist on the road. In 1997, she was twice Finnish Champion in the road race and the time trial, 2001, and again in 2005 road champion. Also in 1997, she won the Giro del Trentino Alto Adige and 2000 again. In 1998 and 2000 she won second place in each of the Flèche Wallonne in 2000 also took second place in the overall standings of the World Cup women's cycling. In the same year, she also took part the Sydney Olympics and finished third in the road race rank 21; This year she was elected in Finland Athlete of the Year. At the Olympic Games in 2012 in London, she took 20th place in the road race and the time trial position eleven.

From 2005 to Pia Sundstedt turned increasingly to the Cross Country and was in this discipline more time European Champion and World Champion as well as in the marathon.

Professional

At the end of the 2012 season Sundstedt ended her career as an active athlete. She took over the management of a Qatar women's cycling team, which aims beginning with the 2014 season, to let riders this country take part in the UCI Road World Championships 2016.
