Action

Together with his annoying Entourage he organized a picnic in the countryside. He meets the girl from the countryside Nenette, played by Catherine Rouvel, initially available as a test subject available, because they just do not so did the men. The charm of the landscape and the natural charm of the country girl let Etienne forget his plan and return to its natural method.

Criticism

" Bucolic farce of the then 65 year old Jean Renoir; a hymn to the power of sensuality, both a satire on unworldly intellectualism and the excesses of civilization itself. Stylistically, the film evokes the impressionist nature pictures of Auguste Renoir, while the dramaturgy remains open to the atmosphere of the scenes and the charm of the actors. "

"That something far hergebrachte topic provides the rotated in beautiful colors film itself ad absurdum, by playing off vital vitality against pale formula thinking. The praise to be a playful masterpiece of bucolic serenity, given the frivolous attitude remains questionable. "
