Pieksämäki sub-region

The administrative community Pieksämäki (Finnish Pieksämäen seutukunta ) is one of three administrative Communities ( seutukunta ) of the Finnish countryside Savo. It includes the following four cities and towns:

On 1 January 2004, the places Jäppilä, Pieksämäen Maalaiskunta and Virtasalmi for rural community Pieksänmaa were merged. Three years later, on 1 January 2007, Pieksänmaa this time was incorporated into the city Pieksämäki, so the only municipality in the administrative community was. Early in 2009, changed the three municipalities Joroinen, Juva and Rantasalmi from the dissolved Management Community Juva in the administrative community Pieksämäki.
