Pierantonio Tasca

Pierantonio Mastrogiovanni Tasca ( born April 10, 1858 in Noto, † April 4, 1934 ibid ) was an Italian composer.

Tasca entered the age of eighteen as a composer with a scherzo musicale. His first opera premiered at the Teatro Bianca 1884 La Pergola in Florence with Eva Tetrazzini in the lead role. A great success was the premiere of his opera A Santa Lucis with Gemma Bellincioni and Roberto Stagno in the lead roles on a libretto by Enrico Golisciani by Goffredo Cognetti at Berlin's Kroll Opera in 1892. Since 1896 had Tasca at the newly founded theater of the West, where in 1898 his opera Pergolesi was premiered. In 1919 came his third grand opera La Lupa after a novel by the writer Giovanni Verga veristic on the board of the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. Tasca has composed more vocal works, including the operetta Studenti e Sartine (1901, under the pseudonym D' Anthony ), as well as symphonic works and chamber music. At his funeral conducted 100 musicians under the direction of Francesco Mule on his Messa in Requiem.
