Pila (Karlovy Vary District)

Pila ( German Schneidmühl ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers south-east of Karlovy Vary and Karlovy Vary belongs to Okres.

Geography

Pila is located on the fringe of the Imperial forest at Lomnický creek. To the north lies the Airport Karlovy Vary, west of the reservoir Stanovice. To the south are tunnels and tailings as the former mining.

Neighboring towns are Olšová Vrata in the north, Andělská Hora in the northeast, Žalmanov, Peklo and Nová Víska in the east, Podlesí and Dlouhá Lomnice the southeast, Rybničná, Nové Kounice and Dolni Dražov in the south, Dražov, Nové Stanovice and Stanovice the southwest, Cihelny in the West and Kolová in the northwest.

History

Since 1597 a mill whose existence is documented in writing since the 1620s in belonging to the reign Bečov valley of Lammitzbaches. Later was added in a cutting mill. During the Thirty Years' War, the settlement of Swedish troops was hit. In the Berni rula 1654 six sojourners, including three Köhler for Schneidmühl, which belonged to the land of Funkenstein, reported. 1713 formed Schneidmühl own village community with a mayor. Until 1780 the village had grown to 43 houses. During the reign of Dominik von Kaunitz, the village was enlarged. 1840 consisted of 92 houses and Schneidmühl had 579 inhabitants.

After the abolition of patrimonial Schneidmühl / Pila formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Karlovy Vary. To the south of Pila ore was mined from 1880. Later took place on Uhelný vrch at Dražov the mining brown coal and wax, which was set in 1968. 1901 was the village of 118 houses, where 725 German Bohemia lived. 1930 the community had 829 inhabitants. As a result of the Munich Agreement in 1938 Schneidmühl annexed by the German Reich. 1939 lived 835 people in Schneidmühl. From 1938 to 1945, the community was part of the German district of Karlovy Vary and came to the end of the Second World War back to Czechoslovakia. As of 1945, the first expulsion of 160 German families and the establishment of the Czech population.

From 1946 to 1960 belonged to the Pila Okres Karlovy Vary okolí and since 1961 back to Okres Karlovy Vary. Between 1976 and 1999, Pila was incorporated to Kolová.
