Piombino Dese

Piombino Dese is a Northeast Italian municipality ( comune ) with 9530 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Padua in Veneto. The community is located about 24 kilometers northeast of Padua. Piombino Dese is immediately adjacent to the Treviso area, just south of the Parco Naturale del Fiume Sile regional.

History

1152 will be the place in a bull of Pope Eugene III. mentioned. Finally, he comes under the rule of the Venetian Republic. Andrea Palladio erected here in the middle of the 16th century, the Villa Cornaro, which is involved in a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Traffic

Piombino Dese is with its railway station on the railway line Trento-Venice. The district Levada had up to the closure of the railway line from Treviso to Ostiglia also a railway station ( Levada Badoere, part of Morgano ). The former Strada Statale 245 Castellana (now Regional Road ) runs through the municipality.
