Pirjo Muranen

Pirjo Elina Muranen, born Manninen ( born March 8, 1981 in Rovaniemi ) is a former Finnish cross-country skier. She is the sister of the Nordic combiner Hannu Manninen.

Pirjo Manninen won at the 2001 World Championships gold in the sprint and the World Championship in 2005 along with Riitta -Liisa Lassila silver in the team sprint. She won in December 2002 in Linz her first World Cup race. At the 2007 World Championships in Sapporo they could win the gold medal in the 4 x 5 km with the Finnish relay.

At the Olympic Winter Games 2010 in Vancouver Muranen reached together with Virpi Kuitunen, Riitta -Liisa Roponen Aino Kaisa Saarinen and the bronze medal in the relay race 4 x 5 km.

On June 30, 2007, she married Ville Muranen and is now called Pirjo Muranen.
