Pisciotta
Pisciotta is a town with 2720 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Salerno in the Campania region. It is part of the Comunità Montana Zona del Lambro e del Mingardo.
Geography
Pisciotta covers an area of 30 km ². The center, which has formed around the Palazzo Ciaccio, located 171 m above sea level. The neighboring communities include: Ascea, Centola and San Mauro la Bruca. Pisciotta is apart from the center or from other parts of town. Caprioli and Marina di Pisciotta on the coast and are members of the Costiera Cilentana. Rodio is located further inland to about 400 m slm
History
The town grew up at the beginning of the 10th century, when citizens were attacked from the nearby town Bussento by the Saracens and fled here.
Traffic
The port of Marina di Pisciotta is run by the "Metro del Mare " by various ferry lines that call at Capri and Naples beside Sapri, Camerota, Acciaroli, Salerno and Agropoli.
