Tramonti, Campania

Tramonti is a town with 4053 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Salerno in the Campania region. It belongs to the mountain community Comunità Montana penisola Amalfi. The name of the village derives from "intra montes " (surrounded by mountains ).

Geography

Neighboring municipalities are Cava de ' Tirreni, Corbara, Lettere (NA ), Maiori, Nocera Inferiore, Nocera Superiore, Pagani, Ravello and Sant'Egidio del Monte Albino.

The districts are called Campinola, Capitignano, Cesarano, Corsano, Figlino, Gete, Novella, Paterno Sant'Arcangelo Paterno Sant'Elia, Pietre, Polvica, Ponte and Pucara. The seat of the municipality is located in Polvica.

Attractions

The Conservatorio di S. Giuseppe and Teresa was a Saint Joseph and Theresa consecrated convent, built from 1662 to 1723. The nuns produced there a herb called "Concerto", a specialty of the place. Today the buildings are threatened by decay.
