Pizzi (Portuguese footballer)

Luís Miguel Afonso Fernandes ( born October 6, 1989 in Bragança ), called Pizzi, is a Portuguese footballer.

Career

In the club

Pizzi started his career with his hometown club GD Bragança and completed already as a youth player four non- league games for the club. In 2007 he signed a contract with SC Braga, however, was initially subsequently loaned out to third division side GD Ribeirão and to the second division SC Covilhã. During the winter break of the 2009/10 season Pizzi joined as part of another lending agreement to the Portuguese first division club FC Paços de Ferreira. He then came on 16 January 2010 on his Erstligadebüt. In the 2010/11 season as a regular player Pizzi missed just three league matches and scored seven goals, including 8 May 2011 a hat- trick in a 3-3 draw against FC Porto.

For the 2011/12 season Pizzi moved on loan to the Spanish capital club Atlético Madrid, but could not prevail there. Nevertheless Atlético pulled the end of the season the agreed purchase option in the amount of 13.5 million euros. For the 2012/13 season Pizzi has been loaned by the Spanish Erstligaaufsteiger Deportivo La Coruna, for whom he played 35 league games in a row and scored eight goals. At the end of the season Deportivo, however, rose again in the Segunda División.

On July 26, 2013 Pizzi was taken for six million euros from Benfica under contract. He signed a six-year contract until 30 June 2019 was the 2013/14 season on loan at Spanish side Espanyol.

In the National Team

Pizzi played some games for the Portuguese U- 19 and U -21. In September 2012, he was appointed on the occasion of two World Cup qualifying matches of national team coach Paulo Bento for the first time in the senior team. His debut took place on 14 November 2012 during a friendly match against Gabon, in which Pizzi immediately scored his first international goal from the penalty spot.
