Plaveč

Plaveč ( 1927-1948 Slovak " Plaveč nad Popradom "; Plautsch German, Hungarian Palocsa ) is a municipality in the north-eastern Slovakia. It lies on the river Poprad at the foot of the highlands Ľubovnianska Highlands, about 9 km from the Polish border and 15 km from Stara Ľubovňa away.

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1269. It has a station on the railway line Poprad - Plaveč and is a railway junction.

To the municipality include not only the main town and the settlements Pastovník and Podzámok and unofficially Závada (after 1808 incorporated ). 1877-1957 was also the neighboring Ďurková today a part of the community.
