Plavnica

Plavnica ( until 1927 slovak also " Plavonica "; Hungarian Palonca - to 1907 Plavnica ) is a municipality in the north-eastern Slovakia with 1625 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), the Region is part of the Stara Okres Ľubovňa, part of Prešov and the traditional landscape Saris is counted.

Geography

The municipality is located in the northern foothills of the mountains in the valley of the Poprad Levočské the creek Šambronka, near the Polish border. The almost 20 km ² municipal area is hilly, with altitudes ranging from 490 m nm N.M. to 735 m; only one part in the southwest is forested. The center is located at an altitude of 530 m nm and is nine kilometers by road from Stara Ľubovňa and 54 kilometers by road from Prešov away.

History

The territory of the present municipality is Historically, only mentioned in writing in 1325, but archaeological and historical studies point to a company founded in the 11th century village. Next speaks a charter in 1366 through a village called Noua Plaunych, which merged with the original village in a few decades into one unit. The village belonged to the dominion of the nearby castle Plaveč. At the end of the 16th century Plavnica was the largest village in the area with Slovak and russinischstämmigen population that was predominantly employed in agriculture, which is the case today. 1828 are listed 167 houses and 1,211 inhabitants.

Infrastructure and Transport

In the village there is both a crib and a primary school. Furthermore, a library and a post office are available. Default traffic Plavnica is by the road 1st order 68 ( Poland Prešov - Košice - Hungary) developed, the transport on the railway line Poprad - Plaveč is set, however.
