Plevník-Drienové

Plevník - Drienové is a municipality in Okres Považska Bystrica in the area of ​​Trenčín Region in Slovakia with about 1,600 inhabitants.

The municipality lies in a basin on the left bank of the creek Drienovka Waag, below the hill country Súľovské Hills in the east. The height of the municipality varies between 290 m nm on N.M. Vah river and 813 m on the mountain Maly Manín. Plevník - Drienové is eight kilometers northeast of Považská Bystrica, 18 kilometers southwest of Žilina and 52 kilometers northeast of Trenčín located.

The village was founded in 1952 by the merger of the previously independent municipalities Plevník (first mentioned in 1354, Hungarian Pelyvás ) and Drienové (first mentioned in 1458, Hungarian Vágsomfalu ).

In place of the Slovak writer Dominik Tatarka was born in 1913.
