Old Town Bridge over the Ploučnice in Decin
Ploučnice ( German of Polzen ) is a right tributary of the Elbe River in northern Bohemia, Czech Republic.
Description
She has two sources:
- The Upper Polzenquelle ( pramen Horni Ploučnice ) is located in the Jeschke Mountains on the southwestern slope of Ještěd ( ridge) at Hoření Paseky ( Oberpassek )
- The Lower Polzenquelle ( Hlavní pramen Ploučnice ) is located west of the village Janův Dul in the Ralská pahorkatina.
Ploučnice flows in a westerly direction, the towns and villages Osečná, the resort Hamr na Jezeře, Straz pod Ralskem Mimoň, Ceska Lipa, Žandov u České Lípy and Benešov nad Ploučnicí until it flows into the Elbe after 102 km Decin.
Inflows are Panenský Potok ( Virgin Bach) in Mimoň and Svitávka ( Zwittebach ) in Heřmaničky. As a natural monument of Polzendurchbruch applies to Noviny pod Ralskem.
