Płużnica Wielka

Płużnica Wielka ( German: United Pluschnitz ) is a town in Poland in the community Strzelce ( United Strehlitz ) in the powiat Strzelecki. It is part of Opole Voivodeship in the historic Upper Silesia.

Geographical Location

Płużnica Wielka located 13 kilometers east of the municipal center and the county town of Strzelce and 43 kilometers southwest of the Opole voivodship.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1299. 1302 the site was mentioned as Plusnitz maiori.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 voted 87 voters to remain in Germany and 53 for Poland. Great Pluschnitz remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 258 inhabitants in the village. On 3 September 1936, the town was renamed in Mark Linden. 1939, the place had 238 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Great Strehlitz.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Płużnica Wielka and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Strzelecki.

Attractions and buildings

  • The Catholic Church. Probably built in the 16th century. The church tower was built in the 18th or 19th century.
  • Castle with park. Built in the first half of the 19th century for the family of Posadowsky Wehner.
