Pohorje transmitter

The transmitter Pohorje is a transmitter of Radio Televizija Slovenija for radio and television on the Pohorje (Slovenian Pohorje ), a mountain near Maribor. As antenna support a 72 meter high steel framework tower used.

History

Commissioning

The transmitter Pohorje was put into operation on 11 October 1963. He initially radiated from two radio programs on the frequencies 88.5 MHz and 96.9 MHz, and a television on channel 11.

First expansion

In 1966 the Tower was renovated for the first time, it was a new VHF antenna mounted, whereby the tower was 16 meters higher. At the same time the installation of new television stations followed.

Second extension

In 1973 followed the second expansion: To send another FM program, the radio tower was increased to 15 meters. In the same year the transmission mode of the frequency 93.1 MHz began.

Third expansion

In 1983 the Tower was restored the third time and reinforced it. Two years later, they took the frequency 102.8 MHz for radio SI in operation.

Fourth extension

In 1996, they took a new station into operation in order to radiate at the frequency 105.3 MHz, the program can ARS. A year earlier, a new television station for the private program Pop TV has already been put into operation.

Special

Although it is designed as a free-standing lattice tower and is surrounded by forest, it is guyed in two levels in six directions. Such additional structural safety measure is very unusual for a relatively low tower.
