Poom Jensen

Poom Jensen (also: Bhumi Jensen ) ( born August 16, 1983, † 26 December 2004 Phuket / South Thailand ) was a grandson of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX. ).

Poom Jensen was the son of Princess Ubol Ratana, the oldest daughter of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and the American businessman Peter Jensen. His mother had married the Americans during their studies in the U.S. in 1972 and after 26 years of marriage was divorced from him in 1998. He had autism, through him, grew up in Thailand awareness and education about this disease. Although his father was a foreigner in Thailand, it is a royal status was granted. As at that time the only male born out of wedlock grandson of the reigning king, he played a role in the succession to the throne a long time.

His condition improved by the intensive care of his parents over the years, he graduated from the school and a degree in physical education. Until 1998, he lived with his family in the U.S., then they moved to Thailand.

The 21 -year-old, who made with his mother and other family members holiday in Khao Lak, had just finished his Wasserskooterfahren and was on his way to his hotel when the tsunami after the earthquake in the Indian Ocean on 26 December 2004 killed him. His body was discovered near his hotel the day after the disaster at the beach and later identified by his uncle, the heir to the throne Maha Vajiralongkorn. He received a royal burial.
