Pope Adeodatus II

Adeodatus II (also Deusdedit II, * in Rome, † June 17 676 ) was elected on 11 April 672 to the Pope. His name means: God-given (latin ).

Before he became Pope, he was a monk at the monastery Erasmus in Rome. Adeodatus II did not interfere much in secular politics and fought monotheletism. He impressed by his kindness and generosity.

The Catholic feast day is June 17th, day of his death. His grave is located in St. Peter's Basilica.
