Pope Donus

Donus or Domnus († April 11 678 ), son of the Roman Mauricius, was dated 2 November 676 until his death, Bishop of Rome, and thus pope.

About Donus ' actions as Pope little is known. According to the Liber Pontificalis he left St. Peter's Square with Pave white marble. He also had several famous churches and chapels renovate. Under Donus ended a schism that began with independence aspirations of the archbishopric of Ravenna several years earlier. It further states that under Donus a group of Syrian monks flew, who were in a monastery near Rome without permission. Donus her expelled and handed over the monastery to locals.

After a term of one year, five months and ten days Donus died and was buried in St. Peter's Basilica. A mosaic, which was erected after his death in a church in the Roman Forum, was destroyed.
