Pope Adrian III

Hadrian III. ( * Before 884; † mid-September 885 in San Cesario sul Panaro, near Modena ) was from 884 until his death Pope. His name means people of Hadria ' (latin ). He comes as the Popes Hadrian I and Hadrian II from the Roman family of the Colonna.

Hadrian III. was enthroned on 17 May 884, succeeding Pope Marinus I.. He died on the journey to the Diet of Worms, to him the East Frankish king Charles had invited the thickness to discuss the issue of replacement of vacant bishoprics and the ability of the successor still underage Emperor's son.
