Popeşti - Leordeni is a town in Ilfov County in Romania.

Location

Popeşti - Leordeni is the Wallachian Plain, directly on the southeastern outskirts of Bucharest. The center of the Romanian capital, is approximately 8 km away.

History

The present city was made ​​up of three villages: Popeşti - Conduratu (or Pavlicheni ) Popeşti - Români and Leordeni. They were first mentioned in 1530. 1828 - during the Russo -Turkish War - Roman Catholics from the region of Nikopol (Bulgaria) were settled on the territory of the municipality.

As of the 2002 census lived in Popeşti - Leordeni 15 115 people, including 14 915 Romanians, 164 Roma and Hungary 12.

Traffic
