Poprad Ice Stadium

HK Poprad ( Extraliga) HC Lev Poprad ( KHL, 2011-2012)

The Zimný Štadión Poprad ( Poprad ice rink German ) is an ice stadium in Poprad, is played in the next figure skating especially Hockey. The hall is owned by the city of Poprad. In the stadium, the second oldest hockey tournament in Europe, the Tatranský pohár is discharged in the summer.

History

The hall was opened in 1973 at a capacity of 5500 spectators, was restored in 2008 and 2009 for about three million euros and now has a capacity of only 4500 spectators. In the ice rink of HK Poprad bears from the Extraliga of its home games and from the season 2011/2012 the HC Lev Poprad from the Kontinental Hockey League. In the ice rink Games of the C- 1994 World Cup also took place. In the hall there is a press center and a VIP Tribune. The ice complies with Canadian measures 56 x 26 meters, making it the smallest ice rink in Slovakia. However, it is also possible to expand on the ice surface normal European dimensions.

The current name of the stadium were: 1973-2006 Tatravagónka aréna, 2006-2010 Aqua City hockey arena, since 2010 Zimný Štadión Poprad.
