Portraits of Past

Portraits of Past are a screamo / emocore band from Berkeley, California / USA. The band is despite its short existence as a highly influential Emoband, especially in terms of the resulting screamo bands.

History

The band was founded in 1994 in Berkeley, a town near San Francisco, and during the period of its existence released a split with Bleed, an LP and two compilations. Portraits of Past played alongside some smaller tours along the west coast of a U.S. tour before our group dispersed. The discography of the band was released in 2008 by the label Ebulltion Records.

After the dissolution of the band in 1995, the former members in other projects such as Nexus Six, Seventeen Queen, The Audience, Bella Vista, the screamo legend Funeral Diner or Who calls so loud continued working. In 2008, the band united to give some reunion concerts in the course of the year.

Style

The band plays a more aggressive and chaotic Emo style, laying the foundation for later bands whose sound should represent exactly relying on these stylistic devices Screamo.

Slow something paths occur acting parts of a song with quiet monotone vocals alternate with typical Screamo - from extremely fast, hard and chaotic parts that are backed by brutal screams and longer geschriene texts.
