Post-Suharto era

As Reformasi ( German: reform) is called in Indonesia after Suharto's government. After Suharto's resignation democratic reforms were initiated and loosened the restrictions on the press, among others. A referendum in East Timor was carried out in the Reformasi period. In it spoke of the people of East Timor for independence from Indonesia, which was then officially recognized on 20 May 2002.
