Premio Campiello

The Premio Campiello is an Italian literary prize has been awarded since 1962 every year by the industrialists of the Italian region of Veneto (Veneto ).

The winner is determined in two stages: a panel of writers and literary critics elect five new publications from Italian. This shortlist will be published and submitted to a jury audience of 300 readers who will decide on the award.

In 2005, the Premio Campiello also Letteratura Germania has been issued for the first time. This price is a very good translation of an Italian literary work in the German language honor.

Expiration of the award

The course of the award of the Premio Campiello is quite special.

Unlike many other literary awards five books are chosen by the critics, who have appeared in the previous year. These are the " Giuria Popolare " ( People's Jury), also called " jury of 300 " ( " Giuria dei 300 " ) called, submitted. These five books are then officially awarded the Premio Campiello selezione.

Of these five books the Giuria Popolare selected ( consisting of 300 readers of different origin, age, culture, profession and social status ) the book Super Campiello.

Each member of the jury, there is only one possible to be part of the jury.

Despite this particular selection, it is common to refer to the five finalists as the winner. So the Giuria Popolare is a - attributed greater importance - in relation to the critics.
